Join Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine and Columbia/Barnard Jewish Voice for Peace for an event in recognition of Queer Awareness Month at Columbia University 2015.
CSJP and JVP will be screening Pinkwashing Exposed: Seattle Fights Back, a 60 minute documentary directed by Barnard alum Dean Spade.
The documentary shows the story of local queer Palestine solidarity activists who successfully lobby the City of Seattle's LGBT Commission to drop an Israeli-government-supported tour featuring gay and lesbian activists that had been slated to visit the area. The film sheds light on what pinkwashing is, how local activists are fighting back, and the resulting community backlash
SJP and JVP will also host a short discussion and teach in on pinkwashing and it's implications.
Non-CUID holders must RSVP for entrance into the building here.
