Palestinian writer and doctor Ghada Karmi in conversation with Philip Weiss
This November 2nd is the 98th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, a document which resulted in the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine, with a total and deliberate disregard for the rights and interests of the Arabs who then numbered 92 percent of the population.
Ghada Karmi is a well-known Palestinian writer and medical doctor from Jerusalem who lives in Britain. She has written several books about Palestinian history and her own experience as a refugee, including In Search of Fatima: A Palestinian Story, Married to Another Man: Israel's Dilemma in Palestine, and most recently, Return: A Palestinian Memoir.
This event is co-sponsored by Verso Books, Arab Students United at New York University, Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine,
Mondoweiss, Adalah-NY, Al-Awda NY: The Palestine Right to Return Coalition, and Haymarket Books.
