Summer Arabic Programs

We’re all staying inside and socially distancing this summer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use this time to start a new language or get in some extra conversation practice! The following programs have announced remote Arabic language programs for the summer of 2020. Most of these fulfill FLAS and DeBary requirements. Check out the links below for more details.

Qasid Institute

Sijal

Intensive ten-week program equivalent to one full academic year; split into two five-week sessions. Immersive online experience rich with cultural activities, film screenings and lectures. Open to all qualified students (traditional and non-traditional).

Summer Institute for Languages of the Modern World

Summer Institute for the Languages of the Muslim world (SILMW) is a program offered by the Less Commonly Taught Languages Program at the University of Illinois. SILMW provides a unique opportunity to explore the languages and cultures of the Muslim World while interacting with experts on the region. The deadline for SILMW registration is now May 15th, 2020.      University of Illinois

AUC Arabic Language Intensive Summer Program   

The Department of Arabic Language Instruction (ALI) offers an intensive summer program from the first week of June until the last week of July. Students must take 20 hours of class per week to be considered full time. Courses are offered at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

The Summer Language Institute (SLI) has the course for you, whether you need to acquire proficiency skills to prepare to Study abroad, Gain reading skills for scholarly research, and Learn to read texts in their original language.

Indiana University Bloomington Arabic Language Workshop

The Language Workshop's intensive, proficiency-based curriculum is developed in collaboration with the IU Arabic Flagship Program. Through formal classroom instruction, one-on-one tutoring, and extracurricular activities, the Workshop provides participants a full spectrum of active learning experiences to increase both linguistic competence and cultural literacy. Students and institute faculty live in a campus residence center while working in a variety of campus and community settings.

The Arabic Summer Institute at UT Austin

The University of Texas at Austin are proud to offer the Arabic Summer Institute (ASI), providing an intensive language and culture program for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students of Arabic. The 2020 Arabic Summer Institute will be offered fully online in summer 2020. Classes will run from May 28th, 2020 through August 7th, 2020. Classes will be highly synchronous, conducted every day via ZOOM.

Oxford University Language Centre

Arabic (Remote Teaching) live sessions will be in small groups of approximately four students and the tutors will coordinate the time with learners so that everyone can be accommodated. Therefore, the above times may be subject to change.
